The project on Muslim women came to me as a personal quest. Thus, I started it in tumultuous countries such as Algeria, Bosnia, and Myanmar trying to define how women resist confusion and war while going to intimate places, and hence, to try to gain confidence. I was in Palestine and the Gaza strip after the return of Yasser Arafat; I noticed what seemed like hope and peace while everything was under reconstruction. In Iran and Malaysia, education was a priority for all the girls; I met there very welleducated women from all walks of life. The aim in this longterm project is to go beyond stereotypes and show a worldwide diversity. Muslim women are from everywhere: from the Middle East to Africa and Asia; from many cultures, national heritages, geographical locations, political and social systems and historical backgrounds. It is from this standpoint that I would like to develop my project.
