Healthy aging, understood as the ability to do the activities that we value most for the longest time possible, is one of the great challenges of today’s society. To be young is an attitude, as these older athletes demonstrate. Every year, more that 6,000 of them from over 100 countries take part in the World Master Athletics Championships, reserved for people over 35 years old. A quarter of the participants are over 65 years old. Training daily and participating in exciting experiences such as masters competitions generate a renewed passion for living that is then reflected in the physical and emotional well-being of these sportsmen and women. Their courage, enthusiasm and determination are admirable and can serve as role models for their peers as well as individuals from every generation. They clearly demonstrate the value of leading a healthy lifestyle and encourage all of us to develop a sports practice, no matter our age.
